Hi there! My name is Mrs. Mecham and I am so excited to be teaching 4th grade. This is my 11th year at Island City Academy and I can't think of anywhere I would rather be!
I am no stranger to the education world. Before going back to school, I spent many years working as a paraprofessional in the Eaton Rapids Public School District. This is where my love for teaching was born. After receiving my degree from Olivet College, my husband and I enjoyed a brief stay in Spokane, Washington before his work brought us back to Eaton Rapids. While out there I worked in several middle schools as a substitute teacher. It was a huge blessing to come home and find a place here with the ICA family.
It is my goal to create an environment where the students learn to support each other, learn together, and feel safe enough to fail! It is my belief that failure is the best catalyst for learning... and we all know how to do it already!
I am married, have two adult children, and enjoy being a grandma! I enjoy sports, music, traveling and reading!
